Green Office Furniture – A Novel Approach Towards A Greener Planet

In this age of unrelenting onslaught of pollution and rapidly declining forest zones on the planet, the urgency to go green is greater than ever. Environmental knowledge has found its new voice in a drive towards green office furniture that many companies now prefer.

A great way to sustain earth’s fragile ecology is to go for modular offices. Such an office requires a lot less material and therefore helps protect trees. Modular offices save not only the trees but also the funds that a business has to invest for a new set up. It’s cheaper to make modular offices, and being small in size, they also result in a lesser rent for the company.

An office that uses recycled or second hand furniture makes a great contribution towards environmental preservation. This kind of furniture doesn’t require many modifications, and is good enough to fulfil the needs of most offices. The disturbing economic climate has brought several companies to the edge of bankruptcy and they are selling off their furniture for a pittance, and this yields a big opportunity for new businesses. The non-renewable resources of the planet are preserved by use of such furniture, without sacrificing on quality and comfort.

Even new furniture can be as eco friendly as second hand one if you are aware of some key considerations before making a purchase. The new furniture must be made of reusable materials and must be of local make so that the freight does not result in serious emissions from vehicles.

Only those foams that are CFC free must have been made use of in the furniture, as the release of these deadly chemicals cause further damage to the already weakening ozone layer. The wood for the furniture that you buy must not have come from fragile forest ecosystems. Last but not the least, you must be frugal and buy only the minimum furniture that would fulfil your needs.
