Skincare During A Winter Getaway
Hitting the slopes this winter should be a simple easy trip. Get in the car and go to the mountain. The last thing on someone’s mind is if they’re going to get sunburn or dry skin. But by keeping skin moisturized one can stop sun damage and dryness. Skincare routines should be carried out in spite of the weather or activities being performed. Skiing, snowboarding and ice skating are all culprits of making us think we don’t need to follow a skincare schedule.
During the winter skin needs moisturizer just as much if not more than in the summer. The coldness against ones face dries skin out leaving it feeling rough. On many ski trips people are on the slopes for many hours without any moisturizer or sunscreen leaving skin bare to dangerous conditions. Skincare is most important when exposed to harsher conditions than one is used to. The UV rays on the top on a mountain are just as high as in the summer when you’re lying on the beach. Usually people don’t notice this because they don’t feel the heat or that they’re getting burned.
Using a moisturizer in cold weather will also diminish the chances of skin drying out. Moisturizer keeps skin hydrated, young looking and healthy. When skin is dried out it gets flaky and rough which is not ideal.
Luckily for those seasoned skiers, snowboarders and ice skaters, there are many skincare products out there that merge a moisturizer with a sunscreen. One brand even includes a SPF 50. Wind, low humidity and temperature are all contributing factors in needing to use moisturizer more in the winter.
Skincare routines should be in place all year round, not just in the warmer months. When skin starts to feel tight and taut that’s when moisturizer is definitely desired. The best moment time to moisturize is after showering or washing ones hands. Remember, when skin is healthy and glowing so are you!
